End of Season Party - Saturday May 11th 2019

Reporter: Helen Richardson

I always look forward to the End of Season Party. It’s a great social event, — an opportunity both for a convivial get together, and for sampling the splendid fare that always appears.

This year’s party was once again hosted by Barry and Jonquil Lewis. Some of the ‘Regulars’ were missing on this occasion, but every room seemed full of people! — Chatting or eating — or both! There were over 30 of us there.

Conversation flowed (as did the wine!) — the past season’s skiing highlights, as well as upcoming activities and holidays to look forward to, were all high on the topic list.

And then there was the food: — so much food and such high quality! Tasty, savoury cold and hot starters and mains, then delicious desserts, — creations that tasted as good as they looked; the mix as always was excellent, with more than enough variety for everyone to enjoy a superb range of the goodies on offer. Many thanks to everyone for their contributions — the impression that a great deal of effort goes into making the wide range of dishes on offer can’t be far wide of the mark; and ‘Thank you very much’ to Jane Fairclough for co-ordinating the food contributions.

Also, here is a big ‘Thank you’ to Jonquil and Barry for hosting such an enjoyable party. Those of you who didn’t come missed a great evening.

As if to acknowledge the end of another ski season, and the coming summer season with its different activities, the day of the Party, on Saturday May 11th, was exceptionally sunny and warm.

Here’s looking forward to all that the summer has to offer us. Indeed, some of us had already got together for early summer activities with walks in the Lake District the weekend before.
