Curry Night in Manchester, Friday August 3rd 2018

Reporter: Chris Fildes

Twenty nine members attended the Curry Night on August 3rd. We met for drinks at the Waldorf pub on Gore Street. It’s near to Piccadilly, and is a convenient place to meet up for most. Even I was happy to use the train!

By 7.30pm we headed off for the restaurant (by various routes) and after a pleasant summer evening stroll, we arrived at the impressive Rajoot Tandoori on Albert Square.

It was decided we’d have the banquet (unless a specific option was requested). Not being familiar with curries, (apart from the well known dishes - very hot, less hot or mild, the chance to sample a wide range of Indian cuisine was delicious, and subtly spiced, the fragrant rice perfectly prepared. Known for a large appetite I thought the rice portions were rather small, but after tucking into the delicious naan bread, I realised there was more than sufficient. This award winning restaurant, did not disappoint, I would definitely recommend it.

Eventually the evening came to a close and we made our way home by various means. Much appreciated was Tony Carlisle and friend for escorting me home from Urmston train station. I hope Ian Mates arrived home safely OK ‘cos we left him to walk the last mile, on his own …

A special thanks to Ruth for all her hard work organising the evening for us, and I look forwards to the next Manchester event.
