Fly On The Wall, 22nd August 2016
Reporter: Rick Mayers
On behalf of the membership would like to thank both Alan Brown and Ian Harford for their many years of service and hard work on the SCOM Committee as they are both standing down in October. Over the years they have both had made a valuable input to the running of the club and their experience will be missed, albeit Caroline will still be representing the Brown household.
The next AGM is to be held at the Chill Factore on the 14th October and Caroline Brown will be giving a talk on ‘competition helicopter flying’ on the evening. We would like to invite any members who may wish to seek election to the committee to get in touch with either myself or Andrew Walker.
It has been previously mentioned in the last ‘Fly on the Wall’ that there has been mixed levels of attendance at recent winter social evenings; so for the coming season there will be no plans for any speakers, but we still intend to hold social chat and drinks events will could be held either at Chill Factore Wetherspoons or Manchester city centre. We will still hopefully have speaker events if anyone would like to make any suggestions of a suitable speaker.
The club currently has surplus income as a result of the holiday organisers kindly giving their services for free, suggestions are invited for any worthy snowsport related causes the club could make a donation to or speakers for future social events.
It had be questioned whether a Wednesday evening was the best day to ski at the Chill Factore and the regular members who attend the session were all in agreement that it should continue on the same evening. However, if there is enough interest from the membership in the future an additional evening on an alternative night could be considered in the future.
The Christmas meal will be held in Didsbury again, so please keep your diary’s free for the last Friday in November.
