Straight Down The Middle (Sometimes)!

By Pauline Whitehead

Jane and Peter Fairclough had very kindly organised a golfing event at Knutsford Golf Course which took place on Friday, 18th June 1999.

9 members played in teams of 3 with the first team teeing off at 4.30 pm. It was a lovely sunny day, pleasantly warm, and we looked forward to this very enjoyable event.

Knutsford is a 9 hole golf course which gives players an opportunity to play each hole twice, hopefully improving, (or not), the first time round. It was in superb condition.

The course boasts several challenging holes particularly one hole whereby the men have to clear three small ponds with their tee shot (no mean feat).

The competition finished around 8.30 pm.

Following a very welcome shower, we assembled in the club bar where we shared trials and tribulations of the afternoon's play. We then made our way to the particularly lovely dining room where we enjoyed a wonderful meal of salmon followed by strawberries and ice cream.

Nigel was this year's gallant victor and was awarded with his prize of three golf balls.

Many thanks to Jane and Peter for organising the event, which was once again a great success and as usual most enjoyable.
