Ski Club of Manchester, ADvance Notice, Late Summer Walks

Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th September

Leader: David Miller

The September walks will be on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th September in the Coniston area. The Millers and others will be staying at the Black Bull Inn in Coniston (home of the Coniston Brewing Co.)

There are other accommodations in the area including nearby YHA’s. Early booking is advised as availability seems to be dwindling already.

For planning purposes an outline of the walks follows, watch the club newsletter and web pages for further details to be advised nearer the time.

The Saturday outing will be a challenging walk of about 16km (10 miles) ascending from Coniston to The Old Man, and then following the undulating ridge north to Swirl How, and returning via Prison Band and Levers Water.

The Sunday outing will be a moderate walk of about 12km (7.5 miles) from Tarn Hows to Cathedral Quarry in Little Langdale (bring a torch), returning via High Tilberthwaite, Holme Fell and Harry Guards Wood.
